Waterhead ready for a step up

NICK HACKMAN: change of codes.
FIGHTING fit and ready for every challenge is the message from Waterhead camp as the team prepares for the National Conference League Division One.
With new coach Andy Sands and a clutch of fresh faces, it is all change at Peach Road in 2013.
This season represents a big step up for Waterhead — they won promotion as Division Two runners-up last term — but it is one they are confident of taking in their stride.
Centre Matt Fogarty, prop Nick Hackman, who has been a regular for Oldham Rugby Union firsts, utility back Jonny Fullalove and Dave Orwell are set to pull on the red and green jersey for the first time.
Sands, gearing up for Saturday’s trip to Milford Marlins, is excited at seeing Orwell in action.
The second row was released by Huddersfield Giants in 2012 since when he had a brief spell at North Wales Crusaders in Championship One.
“Every player we’ve wanted to sign has signed,” said Sands, who took over as coach after Paul Geener and Jon Perks stepped down.
“We’ve really concentrated hard on fitness in pre-season and I think that will show.”
