REIGNING Kamasan final champion Pete Humphries got a big chunk of his qualifying points for this year’s renewal thanks to two wins in as many days on Partridge Lakes.
In the first match, he proved head and shoulders above his rivals, with 15lbs difference between the top two.
Humphries used corn down the middle at six metres and caught f1s and carp for 49lb 12oz.
Former Kamasan League winner and full-time angler Andy Bennett was second (33lb 4oz).
Humphries, of Rochdale Angling, carried on his good work 24 hours later.
This time at 10 metres, he caught some decent carp to 6lb and f1s to weigh in a massive 98lb 2oz.
Bennett was second again with 70lb 6oz.
Trabrucco Halifax are staging a four-match league for teams on the Brighouse Canal.
The opening match went well, but there were a few dry nets.
Individually, George Colbran (Trabrucco Halifax Blue) took the money with a match-winning 4lb 14oz 8drams catch of roach up to 8oz on caster at eight and 12 metres from a peg in the Elland basin.
Another team-mate of mine, Steve Mitchell (Trabrucco Halifax White), used his vast knowledge of the cut to good effect.
He netted 4lb 12oz 8drams of roach to 2oz on pinkie at six metres and decent perch and roach on caster and worm at 12 metres.
The the top team on the day was Trabrucco Halifax White (31 points). They were followed by Tri-Cast Calder Gold (29pts) and Trabrucco Halifax Gold (26 pts).
