A real ’Head turner

MANCHESTER PREMIER LEAGUE
SPRINGHEAD followed up their poorest performance of the season with arguably their best of the campaign as they smashed reigning Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League Premier Division champions Hindsford 4-0 away from home.

Springhead began at a furious pace, putting Hindsford on the back foot.

It was no surprise then when they took the lead when the evergreen Richard Ferguson hit a superb looping shot over the ’keeper’s head from 25 yards.

It should have been two moments later when a fine flowing move saw Adam Monk’s cross find Dale Jackman who just failed to connect just six yards out.

The second period was a similar story with ’Head putting Hindsford under pressure.

One rare Hindsford attack saw ’keeper Gareth Coombe save superbly from the hosts’ forward.

PUNISHED

That chance was then punished further at the other end when Josh Walker found Scott Owen ghosting into the box to finish brilliantly after 70 minutes.

’Head then turned the screw further when more good work from Walker found Paul Stevenson who scored at the second attempt. Hindsford were then awarded a penalty at the other end but Coombe was equal to it, palming away the effort.

To rub further salt in the wound ’Head went straight up the other end and were awarded a penalty of their own when Walker was upended.

Stevenson slotted home to register his 19th goal of the season to wrap up a fine win for Springhead.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Royton Town were defeated 3-1 at AFC Monton and AVRO lost 2-0 at home against Prestwich Heys.
