TABLE TENNIS:
GLODWICK ‘A’ continued to set the pace at the top of Division One in the Oldham Table Tennis League with a 9-1 demolition of Hollinwood ‘A’.
Jeffrey Craighill, Kristof Pinter and Khamal Hussain looked to be a heading for Glodwick’s sixth whitewash win of the season, but a dramatic final set saw George Jones and Robert Belli snatch a consolation point in a thrilling five-game battle.
Hyde YMCA ‘A’ overcame Honeywell ‘A’ 6-4 to move level on points with their hosts.
Richard Sarre and David Hamilton gave the visitors the early advantage, but Honeywell struck back through Simon Hardwick and David Buckley.
Geoffrey Ogden took an important five-game set for Hyde followed by a second for Hamilton in the sixth, before Buckley secured his second of the night for the home side.
Sarre and Hamilton grabbed one each to register Hyde’s sixth victory of the campaign. Hardwick and Buckley took the consolation doubles for Honeywell.
