Terry’s all gold as St Anne’s tame Panthers

OLDHAM St Anne’s kicked off their home fixtures in Division Two of the NCL with a decisive 20-0 win over Castleford Panthers at Higginshaw Lane.
It was pleasing first league victory for Chris Deakin’s side, who struck the front after 15 minutes and never looked back.
Saints spurned a shot and ran the ball — a move that paid off when scrum-half Lee Forsyth sent in Terry Whalley at the corner. The number seven added two points from the touchline.
Four minutes later, stand-off Nathan Jewitt and Whalley split the Panthers defence to put in Niall Collins for an unconverted try and a 10-0 lead at the interval.
Five minutes after the restart, David Best and David Sweeney made ground for substitute Jordan White to touch down at the side of the posts. It was a straightforward goal for Forsyth.
The home side wrapped up victory on the hour mark. Jewitt chipped the ball over the Panthers line for Collins to claim his second try of the game.
