Revitalised Mossley eye play-offs

FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY player-boss Steve Halford is hoping his side will now kick on strongly towards the league play-offs.
The Lilywhites endured a sticky patch in the league until half-time at last Saturday’s home game against rivals Trafford. At two goals down Mossley blew away Trafford with three goals in the second half to climb up to fourth in the table.
Ahead of tomorrow’s trip to struggling Ossett Town, Halford said: “It was a great effort from the lads against a quality side, and I just want us to maintain that level of performance to the end of the season. Our aim has to be a place in the play-offs.”
Halford has issued seven days’ notice of approach to a rival club for an as yet unnamed central striker.
CHADDERTON, who will again miss manager Paul Buckley through illness, travel to fellow mid-table outfit Irlam tomorrow in the Vodkat North West Counties League First Division.
Defender John Rogers will miss out again thanks to a hamstring injury, but full-back Ben Fletcher is back following a suspension.
OLDHAM Boro will be on something of a revenge mission tomorrow at the Whitebank Stadium.
Tony Mills’ men slid to a 4-2 defeat at rock-bottom Holker Old Boys in Cumbria last weekend, but tomorrow sees the reverse fixture and Boro will not settle for a repeat outcome.
