All systems go for Jess

SWIMMING:
AFTER two excellent podium finishes against international opposition, Oldham’s Jessica Fullalove is setting her sights on the British Championships in July.
The 16 year old came was third in the 50 and 100 metres backstroke finals at the British Open in Leeds. She held off the challenges of Great Britain Olympian Elizabeth Simmonds and Dutch star Ranomi Kromowidjojo, who claimed gold in the 50m and 100m freestyle events at London 2012.
Mum Suzanne said: “Jessica was really pleased how with she swam and now it’s all systems go for the British Championships in Sheffield. That’s the main one for 2013 and she will be working extra hard towards it.
“She seems a little bit stronger this year, which showed after beating Elizabeth Simmonds, who is six years older than her.”
Fullalove also qualified for the 200m backstroke final, where she finished a respectable sixth in 2:15:42.
The Crompton House pupil, who trains four mornings and five nights a week, is now gearing up for a busy summer.
