WERNETH ‘B’ reached the final of Oldham and District Table Tennis League’s Division One Handicap Cup after beating Honeywell ‘B’ by 37 points.

A 42-point start was significant for Werneth, as Dave Cheetham (+13), Karen Hill (+8) and Mick Pellowe (-21) broke even in the singles overall, but lost five points in the doubles.

Their opponents in the final will be either BAE or Rosehill, who play next week.

Hollinwood ‘F’ made it through to the Division Three final thanks to a 48 points victory over Coldhurst ‘C’.

Conceding 105 points, the Hollinwood team of Andy McNabb (+62), Paul Hutchinson (+55) and George Marrow (+25) took the lead after the eighth game, and never looked back.

Werneth ‘E’ v Gilders meet in the other last-four tie.

The Division Four final will be between Hollinwood ‘G’ and Deaf Club ‘B’.

The former had a 14-point start against Pollards ‘A’, which they managed to increase to 62 points by the end of the night.

Amir Hussain (+34), Adam Newton (+13) and Bobby Crossley (+3) were in good form for Hollinwood, while Debbie Robinson’s 44-point gain for Pollards was in vain.

Deaf ‘B’ had an easy task against a two-man Our Lady’s ‘A’ side.

They should have been conceding a 111 points start, but this was reversed immediately with the failure of one of Our Lady’s players to turn up and Deaf Club actually received a start of 21 points.

Their victory by 84 points was a formality.
