Honours even at freezing Crossley

Dog's Mark Hewitt get in a strike.
CROSSLEY playing fields must have been the coldest place on the planet as The Dog and Springhead Libs 'B' shared the spoils in the Second Division of the Midas Plumbing Oldham Sunday League.
And while I may exaggerate a touch, Dog player-secretary John Clarke said: "I have never known it to be so cold and windy, but I'm glad we got it played.
"We are still bottom of the table but recent results have shown that we are getting it together after a difficult start.
"This is our first season in the league and it has taken us time as a team to gel."
Libs player-manager Ian Bowers also commented on the extreme weather conditions.
Bowers said: "In football terms you don't really want to play in conditions like that, but it's another game out of the way.
"It was a scrappy first half from us but we then dominated the second and deserved to get the goal."
The pitch at Crossley was in perfect condition.
And the even surface allowed Steve Slack to plant an audacious chip from 18 yards over the head of Bowers in the Libs goal to give Dog a 19th-minute lead.
Libs got the goal they had threatened with three minutes remaining when Keiron Bland was on hand to turn home an Adam Smith delivery from seven yards.
