SPRINGHEAD go into next Thursday’s crunch West Riding County FA Challenge Cup semi-final against Bay Athletic in confident mood.
It is only the second time in Springhead’s history that the club has reached the last four stage of the organising body’s biggest knock-out competition for amateur sides.
And with the final being played at Leeds United’s Elland Road ground, Springhead players and officials are more determined than ever to appear in the showpiece tie.
Springhead manager Lee McAllister said: “We have had Bay Athletic watched by club officials and we’ve been told that we have nothing to fear.
“I am really confident that if we play to our potential there is no reason why we cannot win.”
A major boost for McAllister is that he has a fully-fit squad from which to choose his side.
“As soon as we found out that the final is to be played at Elland Road you could feel the enthusiasm for the tie,” said McAllister.
“We are very confident also that we will be taking a good contingent of supporters to the game.
“We will fill at least a coach and there are others who are travelling over by car.”
The semi-final takes place at the West Riding County FA ground in Leeds and has a 7.30pm kick-off.
The final is at Elland Road on Friday, May 3 (7.45pm)
