FOOTBALL: BRIAN Lord scored five first-half goals as Crompton House Old Boys routed relegation-haunted Famous King George 'A' in the Jack Abbott Premier Division of the Midas Plumbing Oldham Sunday League at the Royton and Crompton 3G.
Twenty three-year-old Lord, who also plays cricket for Saddleworth, was featuring in only his fifth game of the season for Crompton after recovering from a long-term groin injury.
Lord said: "It was just good to be back playing. The goals were made easy by the quality of the players around me.
"When you take up good positions you know they will find you and that makes a huge difference. I felt that every time I had a shot at goal it was going to go in."
Lord could even afford to miss a second-half penalty attempt as his team-mates ran riot against hapless George.
Crompton player-manager Matthew Wheelton said: "We could have scored a lot more to be honest with the chances we had.
"This has been a good first season for us but physically we have not been good enough. The best we can hope for is to finish in mid-table."
