FOOTBALL: PLAYER-boss Steve Halford is happy Mossley’s destiny remains in their own hands as the race for the Evo-Stik League Division One North play-offs gathers pace.
The Lilywhites are third in the table: only the top team us automatically promoted. Skelmersdale United have all but sealed the title already, leaving Halford chasing five wins from six games to gain a top-five place.
He said: “The race for the play-offs is very tight so we’re just taking it game-by-game.
“Thankfully it’s still in our own hands. We just need to keep going and pick the results up.
“Four of our remaining six games are at home, so that ought to help.”
Mossley hosts struggling Prescot Cables tomorrow. Midfielder Cavell Coo will miss the next three Mossley games through suspension following his recent sending-off at Goole.
Injury victims Adam Mather (back) and Sam Hind (calf) are rated as 50-50 to make tomorrow’s squad.
CHADDERTON face a tough trip to Vodkat North-West Counties League First Division high-fliers Atherton Collieries tomorrow.
Looking to arrest a recent run of six games without a win, the Broadway outfit have drafted in former Ramsbottom pair Dale Shaw – a striker – and midfielder Macauley Harewood.
“We’re a bit down at the moment, but we’ll get through it,” said Chadderton’s club secretary Dave Shepherd. Mick Cheetham may miss the Atherton trip because of a knee injury.
IN the same division Oldham Boro will be looking to bounce back from the midweek 1-0 reverse at Leek CSOB when they travel to struggling Northwich Villa tomorrow.
Boro boss Tony Mills has swooped to sign Polish-born former Stalybridge Celtic front-man Patryk Baryklski.
