LUKE PROCTER: planning to work on his tan this winter
CRICKET:
LOCAL star Luke Procter has set his sights on the opening batsman’s role at Lancashire this summer – but he is already planning for a trip Down Under in the winter.
The 24-year-old former Royton professional and Oldham CC youth product established himself in the Lancashire first X1 last year, and this year could see him get his wish to open the batting.
A successful winter in Australia has been of huge benefit.
“I am feeling as well as I have ever done,” said Procter, who represented Gosnals CC of Perth in the WACA Grade Competition.
“Lancashire are happy for me to further my cricket education over there and this was my fourth trip.”
Until now Luke has paid his own way on his Australian trips, but support of local company Mark Anthony means he will get financial help to go to Perth again this winter.
