ANGLING: THE Sycamore Fisheries open match fished on David’s Lake was dominated by Oldham anglers.

Martin Taylor (Trabucco Halifax) took first place with maggot fished over groundbait at six and 11 metres which netted him 19lb 7oz of skimmers and ide up to 12oz.

Travelling partner Paul Booth (Trabucco Halifax) took second with maggot on the hook fished over caster feed netting him 18lb 8oz of smaller stamp skimmers and ide.

Meanwhile, Chris Lett battered the opposition in the Todmorden AS members-only trophy match fished on Croft Fishery.

Fishing the pole, corn and pellet he caught a real mixed bag which weighed in at 49lb 9oz.

Second was Paul Wilkinson with his pole, maggot and corn tactics accounting for 16lb 2oz of carp.

I FISHED the last of the Fir Tree Fishery pairs matches with Richard Lofthouse and drew a good peg on the match lake.

I potted in at 16 metres next to the end of an island and really expected to bag up with skimmers, but I struggled for several hours before switching to an open water part of the peg.

That produced several decent-sized skimmers before adding a carp and chub taken on bread dobbed right up to the island where I finished the day with 11lb 12oz.

Partner Richard did well in his section, weighing in 18lb of hand-sized skimmers and carp that fell to double pinkie. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to get us placed.
