ROYTON skipper Denny Hulme breathed a huge sigh of relief after his team’s victory over local rivals Oldham on the opening day of the Lake Garage CLL season.
Royton were bowled out for 129, but fought back to dismiss Oldham for 93 and win maximum points.
Said Hulme: “We simply didn’t know what to expect from Oldham and I must admit I was disappointed with our total and the fact we didn’t bat our 50 overs. Oldham were unable to get a partership together and it was quite comfortable for us in the end.”
Oldham will take encouragement from their bowling display. Zoaib Shah, the ex-Friarmere captain, took six wickets, while Munawar Mohammed looked good opening the attack.
