Tri, Tri and Tri again

Angling: IT was Tri-Cast Highfield all the way at Sycamore Fisheries as they filled the top four places in the open match on David’s Lake.

James Cantello (Tri-Cast Highfield) emerged victorious, with maggot over groundbait at 11 metres and caster at 14 metres accounting for his 11 carp and plenty of silvers for 35lb.

Runner-up Steve Michaels has lost none of his class as a five and 14-metre approach on maggot and caster tempted 17lb 14oz of silvers.

I CAPTAINED the Trabucco Halifax Black four-man outfit to victory in the Huddersfield Broad Canal Spring League.
The team didn’t have a bad set of pegs, which came as a relief as I did the draw!

Paul Booth won his section and was second in the match thanks to 13lb 1oz of bream to 5lb.

Simon Walton was runner-up in his section and fifth overall, with a tench and 200 roach weighing in at 4lb 10oz.

I had 1lb 6oz of bits on squatt which was good enough for third in the section. Our final man, Dave Chadwick, was back with a mid-section point score which, given the circumstances, was probably the best of all the team performances.

This league is contested by some cracking teams including Ultimate Barnsley, which boasts anglers such as former England international Denis White.

CRAIG Bradford topped the Monarch AC match on the club water. He netted 13lb 12oz of ide, roach and chub on pole and maggot.

Pete Molloy was second, with his sweetcorn approach tempting 13lb 9oz of chub and roach. Next-best was Mick Diskin’s 10lb 4oz of ide, roach and chub on maggot up in the water.

CHRIS Woodrup was an easy winner in the latest Dunlop AC match on the club water.

Maggot feeder tactics worked to perfection as he weighed in 57lb 6oz of carp and hybrids.

Larry Hazeldine was second with 14lb 6oz of carp and hybrids.
