Handicap joy for Werneth ‘B’
Date published: 23 April 2013
TABLE TENNIS:
TWO basement teams contested the Oldham Table Tennis League Division One Handicap Cup final.
And it was Werneth ‘B’, conceding a 26-point start to Rosehill, who pulled through by five points.
Rosehill held on to their lead until the mid-way stage of the contest when Mick Pellowe gained 23 points on Jimmy Findlow.
This handed Werneth an 11-point lead, and with the next games fairly even there was still all to play for in the doubles.
Phil Ashworth (+10) partnered Andy Perry (+5) for Rosehill and gained three points against the Werneth pairing of Dave Cheetham (+9) and Mick Pellowe (+23) — but they just came up short in the race for the line
