RUGBY:
WATERHEAD displayed fine powers of recovery to beat hosts Eccles 22-14 in Division One of the National Conference League.
Andy Sands’ men went into the break facing a 14-12 deficit, but hit back to record their third league win of the season.
Carl Sneyd weighed in with a brace of tries to maintain his excellent form.
Dale Lowe and Terry Fitzgerald also touched down, while Mick Diveney kicked three goals.
Eccles, who are still without a win after half-a-dozen league games, had tries from Andrew Muscat, Chris Smith and Mike O’Boyle. Muscat also landed a goal.
OLDHAM St Anne’s slipped to their first home defeat of the NCL Division Two season against unbeaten Normanton Knights.
It was nip and tuck all the way before the visitors to Higginshaw Road emerged 24-22 winners.
