SNOOKER:
BLUE Club ‘B’ have all but secured the Oldham Amateur Snooker League title after an impressive 5-1 win at home to Moss Inn ‘B’.
The high-flyers are six points clear of nearest rivals North Chadd ‘B’ with one round of matches remaining.
Mick Webb’s break of 44 in the second frame prevented the whitewash.
Just one frame next week at Deaf Social will be enough to clinch the title for Blue Club ‘B’.
Meanwhile, Colin Hopkinson’s 30 break in the final frame for Royton Band was the highlight of the night as the home side succumbed 4-2 to Chadderton Reform.
CRICKET bowled over their rivals to claim the Saw-Tech Shaw Snooker League.
They required two points from their penultimate match of the season against Comrades ‘A’, and despite losing 4-2, did enough to pocket top honours.
G Rigby and M Whittle won the all-important frames. The runner-up spot is still up for grabs. Three teams are in with a shout with just one match remaining.
