ACE IN THE PACK: Trevor Ward at the scene of his hole-in-one at Brookdale.
GOLF:
“I WENT to look in the bunker; I never thought of looking in the hole,” said hole-in-one star Trevor Ward after striding on to the fifth green at Brookdale.
Only a prompt from partner Peter Mawsley made him peer into the cup: “It was a nice surprise to see the ball there,” said Trevor (68), who used a five wood to the par three.
“The other players said it was on the line of the flag but because it is a blind hole I didn’t really have any idea where it had ended up. That’s why I went over to the bunker.
“It was my first hole-in-one and I think the only other time I got close was on the old third here about 20 years ago!”
To celebrate his first ace in more three decades of playing golf Trevor, from Burnage, bought a bottle of whiskey for members to enjoy.
