CHRIS NEWTON . . . new personal best.
OLYMPIC medallist Chris Newton showed he is equally adept on two feet as he is on two wheels in the Virgin London Marathon.
Newton, who starred for Great Britain in Games at Sydney, Athens and Beijing, set a new personal best time of two hours, 49 minutes and 13 seconds.
Despite battling against a bad cold, Oldham and Royton Harriers team mate Anne-Marie Lord also had a good run in 3:59:08.
