Delph title goes to Atkinson, Siswick

BOWLS:
HUDDERSFIELD’S Mark Atkinson and Gary Siswick were impressive winners of the Delph pairs event. The Longwood club duo overcame Roger Crowther and Ian Briggs 21-10 in the final.
THE funeral of multiple Green Final Handicap winner Peter Craig will take place at Rochdale Crematorium on Thursday, May 2 at 11.50am, with a
celebration at Cronkyshaw WMC after to toast his life.
MIDDLETON and District take on Leeds ‘A’ in a Federation National League match on the artificial green at Chadderton Cricket and Bowling Club on Sunday (2pm).
DUE to the lack of entries, the dates for the Brennan Paving mixed pairs event have changed.
Qualifying nights are now on Sundays, May 12 and 19. Finals night is on Sunday May 26.
Practice for all nights is 5pm. Start 5.30pm. Spectators welcome.
ENTRIES are invited for the £1,000 Thwaites men’s pairs and £600 AC Ventilation women’s pairs competitions at Norden Bowling Club.
Qualifying dates are Sunday, June 16, 23 and 30; July 7,14, 21 and 28; August 4. Finals Day is on Sunday, August 11. Practice 5pm. Start 5.30pm.

THE Greater Manchester women’s team lost 408-420 to Wales in their first county match of the season.
Local winners were Chris Kewley (21-16) and Diane Fish (21-19), while Joan Horton was edged out 21-20 and Ann Burgess, on her county debut, was beaten 21-18.
