FOOTBALL:
THE Midas Plumbing Oldham Sunday League Challenge Cup final at Boundary Park will be contested by Rifle Range ‘A’ and Crompton House Old Boys.
Both teams needed extra-time in their semi-final clashes, with Range eventually seeing off Legends 3-1 and the Old Boys edging out Limeside King George 3-2.
In the Jack Abbott Premier Division, Famous King George ‘A’ won by the odd goal in seven against Fitton Hill as Ryan Shaughnessy (two), Neil Hindley and Damien Schofield were on the mark.
Hill’s replies came from P Badby, Ainsworth and Hodgkins.
Oldham GPO beat Limeside Gardeners Rest ‘A’ 3-2 in David Giblin Division One, while Failsworth Athletic prevailed 5-0 at Springhead Libs ‘A’.
Niall Sultan (two), Recce Lyndon, Daniel Allott and Tom Wood bagged the goals.
HEYSIDE’S push for promotion from Huddersfield League Division Two is still on thanks to a 4-2 victory against rivals Shelley.
Despite going behind after 10 minutes, Heyside hit back to lead 2-1 at the break with Scott Rowbottom and James Taylor finding the net.
Shortly after the restart the lead was extended when Michael Ward fired home.
Shelley hit back to make it 3-2 with 10 minutes to go, only for Taylor’s second goal to wrap up a well-deserved win.
