RUGBY UNION: OLDHAM were upset by some unfavourable refereeing decisions but, in truth, they only had themselves to blame for losing their final North Lancashire Division One game of the season.
They went behind to an early penalty, but hit back when Martin Hamer cashed in on a decent bounce of the ball to round the full-back and score a try which Jordan McEwan converted.
Trafford hit back with a converted try of their own and then made it 15-7 when their scrum half dived over.
Oldham began the second half with a bang, however, Joe Hesse scoring a try converted by McEwan.
And when Jake Watson drove over, it was 19-15 to Oldham.
An exchange of penalties made it 22-18, but a try by the Trafford number six, which the hosts failed to convert, produced a final scoreline of 23-22.
One consolation for Oldham was a bonus point as they ended the season with 10 wins, one draw and 11 defeats.
