NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL:
THERE was heartbreak for brave Mossley yesterday as they lost their Evo-Stik League Division One North play-off semi-final to a last-gasp goal at Cammell Laird.
The Lilywhites faced a tough trip to Birkenhead to take on a side that had finished the season in second place.
Steve Halford's men created some good chances, but agonisingly lost out when Joe Holt headed home in the 90th minute.
Halford managed to remain surprisingly positive.
He said: "It's a shocking way to have lost, but while we maybe didn't do enough to have won on the day, we also didn't deserve to lose.
"We matched Cammell Laird for most of the game. That's football though isn't it? I really can't speak highly enough of my players for all the efforts they've put in during the season. I'm so proud of them.”
