IT was a case of one win, one defeat and one game called off for the Versasteel Saddleworth and District Cricket League sides in LCB Cup first-round action yesterday.
Moorside benefited from a 10am start to hammer Ramsey by nine wickets before significant rain arrived at Turf Pit Lane.
The visitors from the Isle Of Man were dismissed for 132, with spinners Danny Anchor (four for 26) and professional Stephan Grobler (three for 27) doing most of the damage.
Moorside needed only 12 overs to secure their place in the next round. Overseas amateur Francois Mostert hit 72 and fellow South African Grobler was unbeaten on 55.
With a poor forecast in mind, Hollinwood and Northern decided to hold a 20 overs per side bash at Lime Lane.
At 55 without loss, the hosts were on course for a decent total, only to fall away to 106 all out. Openers Shakeel Saddique and Adil Zeb made 33 and 31 respectively.
Northern, from the Liverpool Competition, reached their target for the loss of three wickets in the 15th over.
Heyside were frustrated by the weather at Wythenshawe (Manchester Association).
There was no play: the tie will take place next Sunday (1pm).
