Hamer is Oldham’s two-time top man

TOUGH-tackling Martin Hamer bagged two of the major gongs at Oldham RUFC’s annual awards presentation evening.
Hamer, who made 21 appearances and eight tries as Oldham finished eighth in North Lancs One last season, took home the Kershaw Trophy and Red Tie award as the club’s player of the year.
Hamer also collected the William Fox Trophy as the players’ player of the year.
Kelvin Strudwick won a Red Tie award after being voted worker of the year, while the President’s Choice and Red Tie winner was Mike Royston.
The Terry Hurst Trophy for Oldham’s young player of the year went to Phil Conroy, who turned in a number of exceptional performances during 25 appearances last term.
The first-team captain’s award for 2012-13 went to John Souter, while Tony Bergin was the second-team’s choice.
