Sunday option

SADDLEWORTH and District Cricket League officials are working hard to complete first-round matches in the Tanner and Moore Cup competitions this weekend.
In the printed fixture list Sunday is a reserve day, and if no play is possible on the original date the reserve day must be used.
The rule also states that if play starts but doesn’t finish on Saturday, it must continue on Monday night and following nights until a conclusion is reached.
But the league’s executive committee decided midweek that if play starts but doesn’t finish on Saturday, both teams can agree to continuing on Sunday. Disagreement between the teams will mean the game continues on Monday.
SPRINGHEAD enjoyed an emphatic success in Division Three of the Lynx Sportswear North Manchester Cricket League.
After dismissing Failsworth Macedonia’s second string for a meagre 38, they raced to victory with all 10 wickets intact.
Springhead were hoping to follow-up 24 hours later at Swinton Moorside thirds, but no play was possible because of rain. Sunday’s entire programme was rained off.
