BARROW, Farnworth Social Circle, Northern, and Todmorden stand in the way of the remaining Saddleworth and District Cricket League’s representatives and a place in round three of the LCB Cup.

Moorside’s reward for a comprehensive nine-wicket defeat of Ramsey is a home tie against Barrow, from the Northern League.

Holders Bamford Fieldhouse, who beat Fleetwood in round one, hit the road to Farnworth Social Circle (Bolton League).

Matt Taylor’s Uppermill have a second-round tie at Northern (Liverpool Competition) — conquerors of Hollinwood in the opening stage of the knock-out competition.

Heyside have been drawn at home to Todmorden, from the Lancashire League. But first they have to see off Wythenshawe on Sunday. The tie was postponed last weekend due to poor weather.

Moorside skipper Lloyd Kingston is looking forward to hosting the Cumbrians and build on a promising start to the season.

The Turf Pit Lane side had no trouble in overcoming Ramsey — their third win from seven matches in all competitions in 2013. The Isle of Man visitors were dismissed for 131 in 41.3 overs.

Overseas amateur Francois Mostert hit 72 and fellow South African Grobler made an unbeaten 55, with the winning runs coming in the 13th over.

Kingston said: “Barrow are a reputable club and it should be a good challenge.

“Our batsmen are making plenty of runs and our bowling is all right, although we are missing Lee Warburton, who is in New Zealand. “When you’ve got someone like him at one end, it allows you to attack from the other.”

The game started at 10am to allow time for the Ramsey team to catch their evening ferry home.

And the early wake-up call is something Kingstone would welcome in league games.

“I don’t know about 10am, but starting at 11am would be perfect,” said the Moorside captain. “Games could be over by 5pm, which would free the rest of the evening.”

THE play-by date for round two of the LCB Cup is Sunday, June 9.
