Silver service suits Taylor

Date published: 17 May 2013

ANGLING: DARREN Taylor of Saints is a real lover of silver fishing — so it was perhaps no surprise that he took a shine to what was on offer at the Park Lake.

Drawn on peg eight, his favourite maggot bait worked a treat. Darren managed to win the Medlock Bridge AC open match with 17lb 12oz of skimmers, chub and roach.

Chris Davies took second, with the pole and maggot working well for 10lb 9oz of decent skimmers.

In Monday’s Medlock Bridge AC match at the same venue, a superb display of pole and maggot fishing saw Paul Cunliffe tip 19lb 12oz of chub, skimmers and roach on to the scales. His chosen method was caster fished at nine and 13 metres.

Second was Paul Lord, with pole and pellet tempting decent skimmers to 2lb and roach and chub to around the 1lb mark.

CHADDERTON angler Steve Clegg of Saints beat a quality field in the Carr Mill Dam open match.
As the roach went on the feed, Steve caught the most with his pole and maggot fished over ground bait at 11 metres, catching fish to six ounces to weigh in 13lb 12oz.

DAVE Machin made it two matches out of two fished in the Diggle AC Tuesday evening series.
Fished on Tanners Dam, he added 15lb of silvers to five carp taken on long pole and meat, finishing the match with 30lb 10oz.

DAVE Mellor has a good record at Winsford Flash, winning several matches over the last few seasons.
And after drawing a favoured peg two, he showed his class with a winning 45lb 12oz of bream using a groundbait feeder and worm on the hook cast from 30 yards.
