FOOTBALL: CARRION Crow clinched the Midas Plumbing Oldham Sunday League Division Two Shield with victory over Summit Inn at Chadderton FC.
A mass brawl between the teams towards the end of a final played in the right spirit marred proceedings - as did persistent rain..
Referee Mark Schofield and assistant Steven Clegg defused the situation, though Summit’s Ellis Lishman was sent off.
Crow took the lead after seven minutes when Calum Beckett's precise pass found Daniel Fitzhugh who fired home. Shaun Hill levelled for Summit after 28 minutes with a cheeky back-heel from 12 yards.
Crow were in the ascendancy again four minutes after the break, when a foul resulted in a penalty fired home by Beckett.
Referee Schofield brought play back to the edge of the Summit box after an infringement ultimately gave Crow insufficient advantage. From the free kick Lloyd gave the ball a Zidane-like strike and wheeled away in triumph as his effort hit the goal.
Jubilant Crow manager Lee Harrison said: "All credit to Summit but the early goal settled us down and the penalty was a turning point."
Summit player-boss Paul McGrath said: "To get to a final in our first season is absolutely brilliant, but in the end I think Crow's experience showed."
