Tributes paid following death of hugely respected Oldham community figure Dale Harris

Tributes are pouring in from across Oldham following the death of well-known and highly respected community figure Dale Harris, who has passed away.

Dale was closely associated with Latics, where he worked for a number of years, and was widely regarded as someone who gave his time, energy and commitment to improving life in the borough.

More recently, he was Commercial Manager at Chadderton Football Club.

He passed away suddently yesterday (Monday) at the Royal Oldham Hospital.

A Chadderton FC club statement read: "Our thoughts at this time are with Dale's wife, children and all his family.

"Dale joined our management team last year and made a huge impact in developing our club with numerous projects he undertook to take this Club forward to new levels

"It is a huge loss to our club and he will be sadly missed by us all.

"As a mark of respect, the NWCFL fixture tonight (Tuesday) against Barnoldswick Town has been cancelled.

"Condolences and tributes will be accepted at the stadium this Saturday (17th) at the FA Isuzu Vase match Chadderton FC v North Shields and passed to his wife and family.

"Further details of funeral arrangements will be advised in due course."

A GoFundMe page has been launched to raise money to support Dale's family at this terrible time.

News of Dale's passing has prompted heartfelt messages from individuals, community groups and local businesses, all recognising the impact he made.

Those who worked alongside Dale have spoken of his dedication, kindness and strong sense of community spirit.

He was described as someone who genuinely cared about Oldham and worked tirelessly to make it a better place for others.

The team at the Oldham Chronicle are deeply saddened by the news and join many across the town in paying tribute to Dale’s life and legacy.

Dale’s contribution to Oldham will not be forgotten.

A post on Latics' official X page read: "Everyone at Oldham Athletic is shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and former colleague, Dale Harris.

"From starting as a matchday volunteer, Dale progressed to become a coach and education officer with Oldham Athletic Community Trust, and most recently the club’s Head of Commercial.

"As a club, we send our heartfelt thoughts and condolences to all of Dale’s family and loved ones following this incredibly sad news."
