CRICKET: DELPH professional Kevin Hook was in brilliant form as he helped his side through a potentially-tricky Sykes Cup second-round tie against Drakes Huddersfield League rivals Shelley.

The holders inserted Shelley and thanks to a superb return of six for 31 from Hook, restricted their opponents to a mediocre 132 all out.

In reply, Delph sailed through to the next round for the loss of just five wickets.

Hook was the main man again as he smashed 40, while Irfan Zahoor added 30 and Luke Hargreaves 25 not out.

Saturday's home league clash against Scholes was washed out without a ball being bowled. Both sides picked up two points each.

WOODHOUSES moved ominously up to fourth place in the Lees Brewery Lancashire County League table following a destructive win at Denton St Lawrence on Saturday.
Batting first, the hosts were skittled out for just 71.

In reply, Woodhouses made short work of securing another away victory as they quickly reached 72 for the loss of just two wickets.

Yesterday, Woodhouses eased past Flowery Field in the Walkden Cup.

Batting first, Woodhouses had Simon Cormie (77), Nick Doyle (52) and Scott Webb (74 not out) in great form as they reached 279 for seven.

Field struggled in their reply and were skittled for just 129.
