ANGLING:

CHRIS Butterworth made it two wins on the bounce in the latest of the Diggle AC Tuesday evening matches on an in-form Tanners Dam.

Drawn on peg nine, he used the pole for half-a-dozen carp and a few skimmers for a 20lb 4oz bag.

Dave Machin is always one to watch on this venue, and he was second on the night with two carp and plenty of silvers weighing in at 16lb 10oz.



Jake Nightingale won the latest under-16s section in the Todmorden AS junior match on Townhouse.

Opting for the pole and maggot, he got among the ide for a 12lb 11oz net.

Jayden McKendry, with 12lb 3oz of small carp on the tip, pellet and maggot, landed under-12 honours.

Todmorden AS start their Tuesday evening series next week.

Oldham’s Park Lake was in good form in both the Medlock Bridge Saturday open and Monday evening’s open match.

Steve Hodges took first place on Saturday as a first two-hour blitz saw him get among the venue’s skimmer population.

He also added one or two decent chub along the way as white maggot tempted 18lb 1oz.

Darren Webb was second, with three good skimmers and some chub on waggler and maggot adding up to 14lb 7oz.





DEAN Pickering was the winner of the Monarch AC Thursday evening match on the club lodge.

He had 27lb of carp and skimmers on the pole and pellet.

Runner-up Dave Ireland had a 26lb 5oz net made up of of ide, chub and roach on chopped worm and caster.



SHAUN Paddon and Dave Holland, both of Tri-Cast Highfield, put in impressive performances in the last of the Middlewich Spring League fixtures on the Trent and Mersey Canal.

Paddon was second with 8lb 5oz of gudgeon and roach on squatt and hemp and Holland bagged third place thanks to an almost identical 7lb net.



THE Medlock Bridge AC annual meeting is at the Dog Inn, Block Lane, Chadderton, on Wednesday (7pm).

Strinesdale Reservoir: Day tickets on the bank. Maggot fished on the pole, tip and waggler all catching fish. Solid with big roach, perch and skimmers. Good perch and tench also present.

Cargate Pool: Medlock Bridge AC members-only water.

Rochdale Canal: Bread punch for roach and skimmers. Tench starting to show on worm, tempting plenty of roach and skimmers. Tench also falling to chopped worm and caster.

Bardsley Canal: Day tickets on the bank.

Alexandra Park Lake: Day tickets on the bank — 35lb of skimmers won Monday’s match with good backing weights. Pellet, chopped worm and maggot all producing.

Hollingworth Lake: Swimfeeder tactics for skimmers and bream.

Tanners Dam: Diggle AC members-only. Carp and silvers feeding freely with maggot and pellet as good as anything.
