We have to beat Millom — Jackman

RUGBY:
NOTHING but a win tomorrow will do for Saddleworth Rangers, says coach Emmerson Jackman. He takes his men into battle against Millom in the first of four home matches in Division One of the National Conference League.
Rangers are second-bottom and Millom one place higher, four points better off.
The reverse game in Cumbria was a tight affair and Rangers finished on the wrong side of a narrow scoreline.
A result in favour of Jackman’s men would certainly boost the club, which will miss Mark Brocklehurst and injured players Jack Bradbury, Paul Raftery, Dave Newton and James Whalley.
“We definitely need to win,” Jackman conceded. “If we don’t get it, we are in trouble. I know people think we should be doing better. But nobody sees the bad luck we’ve had with injuries. We haven’t had a settled team for the last two years.
“There are still 16 games left. But there are no two ways about it, we have to go out beat Millom.”
WATERHEAD are bidding to put the nightmare of last week’s 70-24 home defeat to Bradford Dudley Hill out of their system by seeing off visiting Stanley Rangers tomorrow in Division One.
Coach Andy Sands described a scenario in which a host of players were missing for one reason or another, with men like Alan Williamson, Matt Fogarty, Carl Sneyd, Keiran Grennan, Martin Sarsfield and Mitchell Birch all absent.
“They did their best, but it was just a no-go with what we had available,” said Sands of his makeshift line-up.
Waterhead — Team of the Month for April — aim to get back to winning ways against visitors
propping up the table with only one victory in 10 matches.
“It was a tight game at their place so it won’t be easy,” added Sands. “But after this we have
(third-bottom) Millom away and we have targeted wins in both of those.”
Oldham St Anne’s have a free weekend in Division Two.
