Brilliant Oldham crowned champs

Oldham have been crowned Lancs GMC Elite Super Eights Darts League champions following a penultimate-day victory over Rochdale.
A draw would have been enugh to take the title, but the local lads confirmed their achievement in style with a thrilling 7-3 victory.
Mark McGeeney was the star of Oldham’s latest win, getting the match underway with a 4-1 win and average three-dart score of 101.44. The England international included a 12-dart winning leg for good measure.
Oldham wrap up their campaign with an away trip to Wigan on Sunday week.
League title success means Oldham now go through to the northern area final at Rotherham on August 11.
Paul Cartwright has clinched the Lancashire GMC Super Eights Elite League individual title, and made it a double by taking the pairs crown with Stuart Holden. In the team knock-out, the borough’s players lost to their Wigan counterparts in the last four.
