CUP kings Dukinfield got their silverware search off to a winning start.
Winners of both the ‘A’ and ‘B’ competitions last year, they reached the quarter-finals this time with a 4-1 over Brookdale at Oldham in the ‘A’ Cup and a 5-0 win over struggling Saddleworth at Ashton in the ‘B’ Cup.
The round two draw produced a double-header: Ashton and Crompton and Royton meet twice, the low men at Denton and the higher handicappers at Blackley.
Blackley ‘B’ captain Ian White had some consolation during his side’s 5-0 defeat to local rivals North Manchester — he holed in one with a driver at Fairfield’s 264-yard par four first hole.
