HIGH HOPES . . . Andy Kremner.
BOXING:
DELPH prospect Andy Kremner is gearing up for his professional debut in the Autumn.
Twenty-year-old light welterweight Kremner, an Operational Support Officer with Greater Manchester Police in Oldham, has 27 amateur bouts to his name.
Six months ago the former Bridgewater and Salford ABC fighter joined Bob Shannon’s gym in Openshaw, and the trainer feels the Delph hopeful can carve out a successful pro career.
Kremner said: “Bob is a terrific trainer and I feel I’ve come on so much during my relatively short time at his gym. It’s nice to know Bob thinks I’m almost ready to try my hand with the pros too.
Kremner has been sparring with Denton Vassell at Openshaw, as the unbeaten Manchester ace prepares to fight Frankie Gavin on June 28 for the British and Commonwealth titles.
Kremner is looking forward to meetings with promoters in the coming weeks; trainer Shannon has assured the former Hopwood Hall College student he will make his pro debut this year - probably late September or early October.
