BOWLS:
ALAN Hodson launches the defence of his Green Final Bowling Handicap title at Nimble Nook on Friday (6.30pm).
The Springbank ace, who defeated Steve Copeland in last year’s final at Royton, starts off scratch, having been penalised two chalks for his triumph of 12 months ago.
Darren Griffiths (Nimble Nook), who has gone close to winning the event on several occasions, opens his campaign as North Chadderton.
And 2011 winner Brian Raynor (Chadderton Cot) is in action at Royton.
THERE is plenty of Oldham interest in Greater Manchester women’s match against the Wirral at Springbank on Sunday (2pm).
Local players include Eileen Dawson, Rachel Fish and Karen Houlston (Delph), Alma Tickle and Chris Kewley (Springbank), Joan Horton (Diggle), Jacquie Lord and Margaret Brooks (Grapes), Ann Burgess (Coalshaw Park) and Diane Fish (Royton Cricket).
