OLDHAM are organising a reunion to mark the 25th anniversary of the club’s Wood Cup success.
The nine-wicket victory over Littleborough came in a golden period for the club - which also saw cup success in 1983 and 1985, and a league triumph in 1982.
The idea for a reunion was inspired by the club’s former overseas amateur Gavin Brown. Among the other players in the team of 1988 were Howard Schofield, Paul Jewitt, Tom Whittle, Gary Crossley, Steve Lovatt, Andy Redford, Steve Bryan and Graeme Simpson. Current Oldham players are hoping to assemble these and other former players and officials for a get-together. Details in person at the Royton home game on June 29, or by contacting Rashid Hussain on 07977 457459 or the club’s Facebook Page.
IMRAN Khan has fallen foul of the league’s tough stance on social media.
The Friarmere all-rounder has been suspended for one game, subject to an appeal being lodged, because of comments made on Facebook after his side’s defeat at Uppermill on Sunday, May 26.
Ironically, Khan will miss Sunday’s clash at home to Glodwick, his former club.
