THE Gills of Greenfield put the skids under Uppermill in the Versasteel Saddleworth and District Cricket League.

Son Chris struck his first ton of the season, 109, and not to be left out on Father's Day, dad Peter collected four for 22 in a crushing 157-run win at Ladhill Lane.

In a forerunner to next month's Tanner Cup semi-final between the two sides at the same venue, Gill junior recorded 11 fours and four sixes as Greenfield raced to 293 for seven. Number eight Mike Moore weighed in with an unbeaten 51 from only 22 balls.

Uppermill were reduced to 136 all out. Gill senior and captain Alex Peters (four for 47) did the damage.

After three defeats in league and cup, leaders Heyside got back on track against Austerlands, who were dismissed for 107 in reply to 261 for eight at Little Hey Street.

Professional Gerrie Snyman (54) and Ryan Barnes (43) were the main run-getters for the hosts, while Danny Cashin and Carl Newton bagged four wickets apiece.

Bamford Fieldhouse, 16 points adrift in second place, did not lose a wicket for the third game on the trot in all competitions.

Chasing 178 at Micklehurst, Josh Tolley and paid man Grant Hodnett stood firm once more in making 94 and 59 respectively.

Mark Whitehead also carried his bat for 61 and with pro Rehan Rafiq (40), skipper Nigel Stock (33 not out) and Imran Asghar (21) chipping in, Glodwick posted 193 for four at Friarmere.

In reply, the home side were skittled for 88. Opening bowlers Shahid Mahmood and Asghar did the damage with six for 54 and four for 34 respectively.

Glodwick, in third place, are two points clear of Saddleworth, who enjoyed a 50-run win at home at Stayley.

Steve Taylor struck 52 for the hosts out of a total of 167 for nine.

Beaten by Hollinwood 24 hours earlier in the last eight of the Tanner Cup, Shaw exacted revenge thanks to a two-wicket at Holebottom Clough.
