Mark Ingham: upturn in fortunes.
CRICKET:
SHAW ran into trouble in their latest Saddleworth League clash against Hollinwood.
Mark Ingham’s side were on 131 for two when a succession of batsmen got their wires crossed and FIVE run-outs ensued.
It left Shaw teetering on 156 for eight, with 13 needed to win.
Shaw got there in the end, thanks to the wise old heads of Bill Read and Alan Campbell.
“Nobody could believe what was going on — I can’t remember anything like it before — but at least we managed to get over the line and that’s now three wins from our last four league matches,” said Ingham.
Despite the dramatic conclusion, the skipper was pleased with his side’s performance: “We were without Joe Whitehead, Callum Jones, Kane Fullalove and Sean Dean for one reason or another, so we did well in the circumstances.”
With confidence building at Holebottom Clough, Ingham is aiming to push towards mid-table and go on a good run in the Twenty20 Cup, which gets under way on Sunday week.
First for Shaw is a trip to Droylsden on Saturday, with league points at stake.
