EMMERSON Jackman admits he is tempted to throw a few more of Saddleworth Rangers’ teenage talents into the fray, such is the effect the under-18s stars have had on first-team fortunes.
While Josh Bradbury has been around the side all season, his impact recently along with Ashley Webb, Jack Connor and Joe Boulter has been pinpointed by a delighted Jackman as a big part of the reason behind the Greenfield club’s improving fortunes.
Oulton Raiders roll into Shaw Hall Bank Road tomorrow (2.30pm) trying to fend off a third win in four Division One home matches for Rangers.
“They have all been brilliant,” said Jackman of his promising tyros. “They have given us a massive lift with their energy.
“It has been really enjoyable to see their enthusiasm on show — and it has rubbed off on the other lads, too.”
Second-bottom Saddleworth will hope for a similarly big performance tomorrow.
Oulton will be no mugs, certainly, but Jackman is hopeful of picking up two points.
“Oulton are going well, but we do seem to improve our game against the better sides.
“It is one the lads are really looking forward to.”
Elsewhere in Division One, Waterhead have a free weekend as do St Anne’s in the second division
