MOSSLEY player-manager Steve Halford is almost ready to begin his close-season wheeling and dealing.
The Lilywhites finished last season’s Evo-Stik League Division One North campaign in fifth place, before they then lost in the last minute at Cammell Laird in the play-off semi-finals.
Since then four players have left Seel Park, so Halford now needs to strengthen his squad as pre-season training commences on July 9.
The Lilywhites’ first friendly fixture follows just six days later at Chadderton.
Halford said: “I’ve started to ring round now to see which players are going to be available.
“We lost Adam Mather to Chorley at the end of last season, and since then Jay Gorton and Lee Rick have told me they’re going to be training with Ashton United, with Ashley Young doing likewise at Nantwich Town.
“It doesn’t sound too bad, but at the moment I’ve no centre-backs on the books at all.
“I’m after two centre-backs, a left-back, a winger, two midfielders and a striker.
“Despite what that may sound like to some people, I am at least happy because we’re in a much better position squad-wise than we were at this time last summer.”
