Hamerton ‘rains’ at Pleasington

MAN for all seasons Grant Hamerton demonstrated why he is one of the region’s most consistent players when he topped the leader board in the PGA in Lancashire pro-am at Pleasington.
The former European Tour journeyman, who is assistant pro at Brookdale, kept his powder dry in the torrential rain to shoot a one-under-par 70.
Hamerton (pictured) leaked two strokes on the front nine then erased the deficit with a hat-trick of birdies on the inward half.
This victory continues Hamerton’s fine run of form on the fairways and greens. He won the PGA North Mansell Finishes Winter Series then followed-up with victory in the Glenmuir PGA Championship and second place in the Lombard Trophy — both national qualifying events
Kirkby Lonsdale pro Kieron Gaskell and the irrepressible Craig Corrigan, from Haigh Hall, were a shot back in a tie for second place.
