PETE Cuniffe did not put a foot wrong in Medlock Bridge AC matches, winning both the Saturday and Monday Park Lake opens.
Saturday’s match saw Pete on peg 13, where he fished hemp and caster for 14lb 8oz of good skimmers and chub, beating Billy Brierley and John Lees into joint second after both weighed in 11lb 6oz.
Billy was drawn on peg 24a where maggot fished up in the water netted him some decent roach and chub. John also fished maggot for a 4lb tench and some chub.
Pete Humphries took fourth place with 11lb 4oz of chub, roach and the odd skimmer which fell to bread punch before a switch to maggot.
Cuniffe again fished his favourite hemp and caster at around the 11-metre mark on peg 24 to win the Monday evening open with some big skimmers and chub tipping the scales to 18lb 4oz.
There was a healthy distance between Pete and next-best Danny Haywood for whom 3 f1s, smaller roach and skimmers fell to maggot fished up in the water for 14lb.
Tom Brownbill was third with 13lb 11oz of roach and chub, maggot fished up in the water the method used.
Section winners were Bob Harrison (9lb 14oz) and Billy Brierley (12lb 15oz).
