ANGLING: BILLY Brierley is bang on form at present.
He won the Medlock Bridge AC Saturday Park Lake open match with maggot fished up in the water catching him 15lb 10oz of roach, skimmers and chub weighing in 15lb 10oz off favoured peg 24.
Danny Haywood has been in the money a few times and made it into the frame again with his peg three working well for four tench – the biggest, a three-pounder.
He added plenty of silvers that fell to red maggot fished at 11 metres. Organiser Darren Webb took third with a weight right up to 11lb 8oz.
TODMORDEN AS fished their latest members-only match on Townhouse Fishery where Chris Oliver just edged the verdict with his 36lb 4oz net of carp falling to pellet waggler fished shallow.
Pete Eastwood was just a small fish away as his pole and pellet approach worked well to the tune of 35lb 13oz of carp, only just beating Stan Buckley into third with pole and meat tempting 32lb 12oz of carp.
The Todmorden AS committee match was fished on Partridge Fishery.
The winner was Keith Deacon with a mixed bag that weighed in at 58lb 1oz and fell to pole and caster.
Craig Howarth filled second with another caster-tempted net weighing in at a level 54lb in front of Paul Bleakley’s 43lb 11oz.
THE 177-peg Gilders festival match took place on Heronbrook Fisheries.
The £300 winner was Craig Ebbrell with pellet fished shallow across catching him a fish every put in to weigh in a brilliant 118lb 14oz off his canal peg eight.
Andy Lees (Gilder’s) won £250 with a second-best 114lb catching carp on caster three metres down the side and pellet across at 14 metres.
SOCIALS AC fished their latest match on Tyle Lodge and although plenty of fish were on show, not so many were feeding.
Winner Mick Diskin finished well in front of the rest with his maggot fished up in the water netting him roach and carp together weighing 23lb 9oz. Dave Ireland was second with caster and worm fished up and down in the water working well for 14lb 6oz of silvers.
THERE is a charity open match on Dunlop AC’s water (behind the Yew Tree pub in Rochdale) on Sunday, August 4. Tickets are £10 a peg and all money raised goes to Dr Kershaw’s.
