THERE was a run-fest in the sunshine at Medlock Road on Saturday as Woodhouses secured a memorable Lees Brewery Lancashire County League victory against Cheetham Hill.
Asked to field first, Woodhouses toiled in the heat as Cheetham Hill racked up an imposing 307 for nine from their over allocation as B Hassan shone with a brilliant 142 not out.
Home supporters must have feared the worst, but in the end they were celebrating as Woodhouses replied with a terrific 308 for five.
Nick Hardman led the way with 88, while Nick Doyle struck 54 and David Garner completed a superb win as he remained unbeaten on 80.
The maximum points haul lifted Woodhouses back up to fourth place in the table.
DELPH look as though their Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership title hopes may have finally been ended as they slumped to a shock defeat at rock-bottom Marsden.
Batting first, Delph will have thought they’d done enough as they scored 192 for nine as Faisal Butt scored 54, Irfan Zahoor 39, Jamshad Ahmad 36 and Luke Hargreaves 31.
However, Marsden belied their lowly position and secured just their second win of the season thanks to a reply of 193 for the loss of seven wickets.
Ahmad took three for 69, with A Farrell top-scoring for the hosts with 75 not out.
Delph remained in fifth place in the league table.
Tomorrow (6.30pm) they host current holders Scholes in the All Rounder Twenty20 Cup semi-finals.
