GOLF:
THERE are only two games to go in the regular season, but play-off places remain up for grabs in the Oldham and District Golf League.
In the ‘A’ League East Division, leaders Ashton’s 7-1 defeat at Stamford coupled with Dukinfield’s whitewash win over Fairfield has resulted in a three-horse race for the top two spots which book a semi-final place.
In the West Division, basement team Oldham beat pace-setters Blackley to bring Werneth and North Manchester into the mix.
Meanwhile, Stamford’s unbeaten run in the ‘B’ League East Division finally went at Ashton, who are being chased hard for the second place by Dukinfield. The latter had an excellent 5-3 win at Denton.
In that match, Denton ‘A’ player Keith Halliwell experienced his third hole in one — unfortunately they have all been against him!
For the third time while playing a league match an opponent has fired an ace — the latest being Chris Clayton.
Brookdale made it an impressive fourth straight victory — at leaders North Manchester in the West Division.
There is a break this week before the final two league games of the season, with the Cup semi-finals taking centre stage.
