Pullen power clinches prize

GOLF: STEPHEN Pullen shot 71 and 68 for a two-round total of 139 to win the Captain’s Prize at Saddleworth.
Roy Dobson (71-69-140) was second, while Charles M Nicholson (72-69-141) came third.
First-round prize was won by Kevin Rafferty for his 69, while Danny Guerriero claimed second-round honours with a magnificent nett 62.
FRESH from clinching the Lancashire Girls Under-15s title, Louisa Brunt was runner-up in the English Schools Golf Association Under-16s Championship.
Playing at Bolton Old Links, the Ashton-under-Lyne teenager fired rounds of 77 and 75 to finish on six-over-par, one shot adrift of Eloise Healey (West Lancashire).
Louisa’s superb effort – she is pictured above with her medal – has booked her place in the English Schools team to play Wales at Lytham Green Drive, Lancashire, on August 18 and 19.
BRENDA Maxwell won Blackley’s Jean Meehan Trophy with 42 Stableford points.
Susan Oldham was runner-up, beating Brenda Beddoes in a card play-off after both scored 37 points.
